If you check the IRCTC website ( www.irctc.co.in), you'll see that the Rockfort Express leaves Chennai at 10.30 PM and reaches Tiruchirapalli Junction next day at 5.30 AM. It covers a distance of 336 Km in 7 hours.
Here's the interesting thing.The train reaches Ponmalai ( Golden Rock) which is Km 324 at 4.24 AM stays there for just one minute , leaves at 4.25 AM and then covers a humungous distance of 12 Km in an even more humungous time of 1 Hour and 5 mins. All this according to the official timetable of the Indian Railways!!!!!
And we call this an Express train and pay a surcharge for the privilege of travelling in this super-fast train.
